Norwood International High School (NIHS) vs Eastern Fleurieu School (EFS)
With both teams eager to for a win, it was NIHS who won the toss and elected to bowl first. The bowling attacked started well, with Hatim claiming a wicket with only his second ball of the innings. The attack, led by Leo & Akshath, worked hard to restrict the scoring opportunities across the 20 overs with EFS finishing their innings at 107 runs, a competitive total in the T20 format.
Akshath was the clear standout performer with the ball, delivering an outstanding spell of 3 wickets from his 4 overs. His accuracy and composure under pressure proved crucial in limiting the opposition’s total and shifting the momentum in NIHS’s favour.
Behind the stumps, Max was exceptional with the gloves. His highlight moment came with a sharp and athletic catch from a flick down the leg side, a difficult chance that he made look effortless. His safe hands and vocal leadership added great energy in the field.
In reply, NIHS unfortunately struggled to find momentum with the bat against a strong and disciplined EFS bowling attack. Hatim provided an early spark for the team, launching an impressive six over the ropes to lift spirits and apply some early pressure. Viwan showed determination and resilience, striking a couple of well-timed boundaries as he worked hard to keep the chase alive.
Despite the team’s best efforts, NIHS fell 42 runs short of the target, resulting in defeat and elimination from the knockout competition.
While the result did not go our way, the team should be proud of their effort, sportsmanship and commitment throughout the match.
Final Scores – EFS won by 42 runs.
EFS – 9/107
NIHS – 10/65
