Week 6 brought about the conclusion of the Term 4 NIHS weekly sport season whereby our middle years teams played their final matches. In concluding, I would like to personally offer my appreciation to all those who have supported in making the program a success in providing wonderful opportunities for NIHS students to personally develop through their representation of the school in sport.
Middle Boys Badminton
The Middle A1 ended their successful season, securing a close victory over Pembroke (5–4) that included several closely contested matches. Anson was a standout performer as the win locked down 2nd position in the Middle A1 standings. Unfortunately, the Middle B1 were unable to replicate the form, going down to Pembroke (0–9) despite a strong showing from Joshua. The Middle A3 and Middle B3 were both defeated by Glenunga International, finishing 1–8 and 3–6 respectively whilst the Middle B4 (C) also put in a strong effort but fell to Pulteney Grammar (4–8).

Middle Tennis
The Middle C Red team found themselves in a tight contest to close out the season, narrowly going down to Rostrevor (4–5). Meanwhile, the Middle C Blue team dominated their fixture with an outstanding 9–0 victory over Cabra, showcasing excellent teamwork and consistency across all matches. Well done to Gabriel (red) & Rasik (blue) who were recognised for their strong performances.
Girls Middle Tennis
The Girls Middle C team demonstrated their steep improvement by competing strongly against St Paul’s College. Ultimately, the team were defeated (2-4) but not without an epic display from Kenza.
Girls Basketball
Another testing fixture for the girls’ basketballers who took on Trinity College over the weekend. Despite the end score line that heavily favoured Trinity, the girls never gave in, fighting till the very end, led by Lucinda.

Girls Volleyball
A mixed bag of results in the Middle Girls Volleyball space saw the Middle B2 team, headed by an in-form Liliana go down to Mary MacKillop (1–2) in a close one, whilst the Middle C1 Red team secured a strong win over Loreto College (2–1) thanks to another outstanding performance by Nesreet. The Middle C1 Blue tried hard but were edged out in the end by St Michael’s College (1–2) despite the best efforts of star player, Xantheh.
Smiles all round to end the year for the Year 7 Blue & Yellow teams who both claimed wins. It was comfortable for the blue side who confidently accounted for Kildare 3 sets to 0. Things weren’t so comfortable for the yellow team who worked hard for their 2-1 win against Sacred Heart College. Special mentions must go to Alexandra (yellow) & Beth (blue) who were standout performers for their respective teams.

Cricket
In what a rain impacted, modified match NIHS delivered a solid effort against St Peter’s College despite falling short by 18 runs. St Peter’s posted 5/83 from 20 overs, with NIHS responding with 7/65 from their 20 overs. Well done to Akshath who top-scored with the bat, contributing 18 runs to the NIHS total.

Coach of the Year – Duangchai Bamrungphakdee
Congratulations to former student, now coach, Duangchai Bamrungphakdee who has been received the Nik Kemmanth Coach of the Year Award, celebrating her outstanding leadership and dedication. This year, Duangchai coached multiple Middle Years Badminton teams, including guiding the Middle A1 side to an impressive 2nd place finish as well as supporting the Senior A1 Girls team across the Winter season.
