Winter Sport Results – Term 2 Week 7

Basketball

Another tough weekend for NIHS in the basketball realm with all teams playing against Unley High School. The Middle C boys were the one shining light, grinding out a 42-34 victory, with Alexander being a standout in a tough fought game and Logan also having a big impact on his return from injury. The Middle B boys went down 26-41 with. The Middle A’s also went down 29-53 against a skilled opponent. Noah and Mithila both fought all game to keep the team in it.

The Open C’s lost 37-51 in a tight game that Unley managed to run away with in the end. Junsei and Jakob fighting hard. The Open B’s had a bye while the Open A’s lost 46-79 to a dominant Unley team. Burhan and Luca both put in valiant efforts.

Basketball 2

Soccer

Mixed results amongst our soccer teams from NIHS. The Year 7 boys team came up against a well drilled Immanuel College, suffering a 0-8 defeat. Despite the defeat the boys kept fighting till the end, Ashton and James were noted for their strong display.

The 8/9 boys side bounced back from their loss last week with a massive 15-0 win over Cardijin College. Noah, Archie and Oliver were dominant and involved in everything up front.

The Senior team also had a strong win, coming out with a 5-2 win over CBC. Sean and Leonardo were noted for their positive contributions.

The first XI team continued their strong season with a 5-0 win over Concordia. Cristiano had a breakout game, scoring 2 goals and being a constant threat as one of the younger players in the team.

Table Tennis

Friday evening saw the two Norwood Middle Table Tennis teams go up against Glenunga. The C1 team unfortunately went down while the C2 team escaped with a narrow victory. Chelsea and Dante both put in positive performances.

Girls Badminton

The Senior Badminton Girls came up against a strong OLSH team, with the girls prevailing in a tense 119-115 victory. Vinuthi was highlighted as a key player in the victory.

In what was another tight contest, the Middle Girls A badminton team narrowly went down to St Ignatius College, with the score being 93 points to 109. Xantheh and Siyong both had strong games.

The Middle B and C both unfortunately went down to St Dominic’s and Marryatville respectively. Nitya and Isobel could both be proud of their efforts in the defeat.

Girls Netball

The year 8/9 Netball team unfortunately went down 22-32 against Mary Mackillop. Stella and Hazel both put in big shifts for their team.

The year 7 C team had their first win of the season! The girls ground out a well-deserved victory over Cabra, with the coach reporting that everyone in the team stepped up and contributed to their success.
