Week 9 saw NIHS play host to a plethora of sporting action in what was the final weekend of the Term 1 Summer Sport Season. Congratulations to all students, coaches and parents who helped foster a season of development, excellence and resilience across all teams. The school sport program will not rest for long however, with preparations for Term 2/3 Winter Season already underway. Boys Volleyball
It was a challenging final round for Norwood International High School’s boys’ volleyball teams, with both Open sides falling to strong opposition from Marryatville High School. Open A1 went down in straight sets, despite a strong performance from Phong, while Open B1 fought hard but narrowly lost in three, with Josh leading the way. Youan was the standout performer in the Middle A team’s win whilst Shun performed strongly in the Middle B’s triumph.
Senior Boys Badminton
The badminton teams finished the season on a high with several dominant performances. Xavier was instrumental in Senior A1’s convincing win over Woodcroft College, while Akshath helped steer the Senior B1’s home in a narrow win.
Middle Boys Badminton
Youan and Doruk were both outstanding in their Middle A1 and Middle B1 fixtures respectively, both contributing to emphatic team victories. Creayon also impressed in the middle B4 in, whilst Zohaib showed his continued development across the season in the Year 7 fixture despite the team’s loss to Glenunga International High School.
Middle Tennis
In tennis, Oscar played a key role in the Boys Middle C team’s strong win over Rostrevor College demonstrating his class as number 1 seed. The girls team faced strong opposition on Loreto, with Sairah showing determination to record a singles win despite the team’s loss.
Girls Basketball
The Middle C girls basketball team competed strongly but were ultimately defeated by Kildare College in their final match of the season, Alexis recognised for her efforts in a tough contest.
Senior Girls Volleyball
Alyssa was a key contributor in Senior B2’s well-earned victory over St Ignatius’ College rounding off a stellar, undefeated season. The Senior C teams experienced mixed results with a win over St Paul’s and a loss to Kildare on Saturday morning.
Middle Girls Volleyball
There were some excellent efforts across the middle girls volleyball teams over the weekend. Andrea was strong in the B1’s close loss while Letizia and Teodora were instrumental in B2 Blue and B2 Red’s impressive wins over St Ignatius’ College. Chelsea performed strongly for the team, whilst Ava and Immacolata were standout contributors in tightly fought Year 7 matches.
Year 7 Boys Cricket
The Year 7B team were unable to end their season on a high, falling just short of a result in an entertaining battle with Rostrevor College. Riveen performed well with the bat, notching up multiple boundaries along the way.
