Boys Volleyball
It was a strong round overall for Boys Volleyball, with several impressive performances across the divisions. The Open A1 team led the way with a convincing 2–0 victory over St Peter’s College, with Sieon playing a key role. Mattia also impressed despite Open B1 going down narrowly 1–2 in a competitive match. In what was a strange ending, the Middle A1 fought hard to earn a 1–1 draw, with Thomas (Middle A) using his height to full advantage, whilst Reuben (Middle B) contributed strongly in Middle B1’s solid 2–0 win.
Boys Badminton
Almost all of the NIHS badminton teams ventured to Glenunga International High School on Saturday. It was a tight affair for the Senior A1 team who fell agonisingly short (4-5) despite Jun Kai (Senior A) performing strongly to claim wins in both singles and double. Samrat (Senior B) was named at the best player in the B1 team despite an 1-8 defeat at the hands of GIHS.
Eric L (Middle A1) was the standout in the Middle A1 team who were unable to overcome a strong opponent (3-6) whilst Eric M (Middle B1) did his best in a 2-7 defeat for the B1 team. Unfortunately, not even strong outings from Alexandre (Middle B4) and Noah (Year 7) could help steer their teams to victory, going down to GIHS and Marryatville High School respectively.
Middle Tennis
The Boys Middle C (Red) team continued their strong form this season, putting in an excellent performance to defeat Immanuel College 6–3, with Kai (Middle C) leading the way in place of regular #1 seed Oscar.
The Girls Middle B team continued to show signs of development in their encounter with Marryatville despite the result. Well done to Riyona & Dima who teamed up to claim the win in their doubles match up.
Girls Basketball
The Middle girls were in fine form again, gelling together to claim a dominant 34–16 victory over Trinity College. Lucinda was instrumental in the win, contributing significantly with her strong all-round play and leadership qualities.
Middle Girls Volleyball
The Middle B1 team, aided by a dominant serving display from Esther secured a confident 3–0 victory against Gleeson College on Saturday. April (Middle B2 Blue) and Lucia (Middle B2 Red) both played outstanding games for their respective teams whilst Martina (Middle C1) contributed plenty in a closely contested 1–2 loss against Cabra College. The Year 7B team again impressed with a strong 3–0 win over Unley High School, led by star player, Senara. Unfortunately, an issue with the MMC gym meant Year 7C match was abandoned.
Year 7 Boys Cricket
The Year 7 Boys Cricket team faced St Ignatius’ College in a closely contested match on Saturday ultimately going down by 11 runs. Result aside, the major highlight came from Krishiv, who delivered an outstanding bowling performance, including a hat-trick to knock over the stumps 3 times in a row, a moment sure to live long in his memory.
Teams will take their respective courts/field and ovals for the final time this season this coming weekend with Week 9’s sport action signalling the end to another successful campaign.
