
Winter Sport Results – Term 2 Week 5
Basketball
Tough weekend for NIHS in the basketball realm with all teams playing against Glenunga. The Middle C boys went down 14-53, with Alexander being a standout in a tough game. The Middle B boys lost 23-78 despite the best efforts of Tobey and Hayden battling all game. The Middle A’s went down 36-55 in a game that was a lot closer than the scoreboard suggested. Ari and Antonio both fought all game to keep the team in it.
The Open C’s lost 29-51 with strong contributions from Ebrahim and Kanatip. The Open B’s battled away to go down 33-54 with Ahmed being a standout for the team. Finally, the Open A’s also lost 26-63, with Austin and Seban having strong games.
Soccer
Our soccer teams from NIHS also had a resilience building weekend. The Year 7 boys team came up against a strong St Michael’s side, suffering a 0-14 defeat. Despite the defeat the boys kept fighting till the end, Zak and Raghuveer were noted for their strong display.
The 8/9 boys side unfortunately had their first loss of the season, going down to 2-9 to a clinical Glenunga outfit. Hugo and Liam battled hard in defence while Noah was a constant threat upfront.
On a more positive note, the first XI team continued their strong start to the season with a 3-1 win over St Michael’s. Jett continues to be a rock in defence and Archie providing flair and dash upfront.
Table Tennis
Friday evening saw the two Norwood Middle Table Tennis teams go up against CBC. Both teams recorded dominant wins, with the C1 team winning 18 sets to 2 and the C2 team winning 18-0. Phoenix, Rohan and Doruk were amongst the standouts in what was an all-round display from the teams.
Girls Badminton
The Senior Badminton Girls came up against a strong St Aloysius side, narrowly coming out as 119 points to 115 victors in what was a nail-biting finish. Nanako was highlighted as a key player in the victory.
In what was another tense contest, the Middle Girls A badminton team narrowly went down to St Ignatius College, with the score being 120 points to 122. Xantheh and Gabriella both had strong games.
The Middle B and C were both able to get the chocolates over Marryatville High School and Kildare College respectively. Anaaya and Isobel both made big contributions to the victories.
Girls Netball
The year 8/9 Netball team played out a thrilling draw against Kildare, the final score locked at 20 apiece. Sassika and Cecile did everything they could to try and get the team over the line.
The year 7 B1 team had a rough outing against Sacred Heart College, going down 0-77 against a very well drilled outfit. Alexis put in a big shift despite the heavy loss.
