Week 1 saw rowers back on the water for the second School Premiership Series Regatta, which collects important seeding points toward the Head of the River grand final in March. Competing against 15 other schools, crews faced extremely challenging conditions at West Lakes Race Course, with winds reaching 30-40 km/h.
Novice Rowers (Year 8)
The novice rowers competed in just their second-ever regatta and showed great resilience in the tough, windy conditions. The girls delivered some strong performances, placing 3rd in the B Final. The boys’ crew had an unfortunate race, breaking an oar after catching a crab (when an oar becomes stuck in the water or under the boat), but showed determination to finish their race.
