With match for the Open A boys over the weekend due to an opposition forfeit, it was up to the B and C sides to take centre stage. The C boys kicked off proceedings, battling hard despite falling short of a strong Woodcroft team who took control from the outset to secure a 29-point win. Things quickly heated up however over in the B match up that played host to a tight tense match that ultimately swung in the favour of Woodcroft who clung onto a 6-point win, despite a strong showing from Syed.

The Middle A team bounced back from an opening round defeat to get their season off and running, securing a comfortable win against Woodcroft College (63-24). Luca continued his good form whilst Blake made his presence felt on Saturday morning. Things weren’t so comfy for the B and C boys who both fell short of a result to the visitors with scores of 25-49 and 26-29 respectively. Sam (Middle C) and Ruowen (Middle B) were named as their team’s most influential players on the day. Clay was a standout for the Year 7 squad who stamped their claims as a competition powerhouse in cruising to their second healthy win in as many weeks (69-10).

Middle Soccer

It was smooth sailing for the Middle Soccer teams as they showcased their strength with comprehensive victories against St Johns Grammar on Saturday. The Middle B3 stormed to victory, putting 11 past the keeper thanks to a stellar performance from hat-trick hero, Emad. It wasn’t all one-way traffic in the A game that followed however, the boys weathered an early storm before putting the foot down to 6-3 win. Fifa was highlighted by coaching staff for his superb efforts across both halves.

Table Tennis

The NIHS Table Tennis arena played witness as the Middle team continued their hot start to the season securing another convincing win, this time against Pembroke (11-3) at home. Heath was influential in the team’s success, winning both his singles and doubles matches to remain undefeated this season. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for the Senior team however, who faced defeat at the hands of Mercedes on Friday evening (3-17). Well done to Lachlan who was good enough to claim a win in both his singles ties.

Great to see a middle girls team representing NIHS for the first time in several years over the weekend. The girls were huge in their efforts, typified by those of Alyssa and Alyssia, despite falling just short against Sacred Heart in a nail-biting 4-3 loss.

Netball Game

Girls Netball

It was a tough introduction to the season for our Year 7 and 9 teams who got proceedings underway on Saturday, both teams suffering heavy defeats against strong opposition. Despite the score line, coaches of both teams were full of praise for the girls, whose attitude and efforts remained positive throughout. Well done to Lucy (year 7) and Mikayla (year 9) who were highlighted as the best players for their respective teams.
