Volleyball Week 4

Term 1 – Week 4 Results

BOYS VOLLEYBALL
The Senior Boys’ teams enjoyed a successful weekend with both the Senior A3 and Senior B3 sides securing victories against Pembroke with close, 2-1 set score lines. Aiden (A3) and Abdullah (B3) were standout performers on the day, heavily influencing the favourable results. The Middle B4 team succumbed to their first loss of the season, going down 2-1 to St. Paul’s College. Despite the loss, Sam was recognised for his consistently strong performance.

MIXED BADMINTON
Senior
The Senior A1 team got off the mark on Saturday morning, taking care of Immanuel College with an 8-4 victory. The win was strongly influenced by Yeshas and Carson who showcased their talent on court. Unfortunately, the Senior A2 and Senior B2 teams faced an insurmountable uphill battle against a strong Pembroke outfit going down in heavy defeats despite the best efforts of Mudit and Aleena.

Middle
It was a mixed bag of results for the Middle Years teams over the weekend with 2 wins and 2 losses across the 4 NIHS teams. Well done to the Middle A2 Navy (8-5) and Middle B2 Red (5-4) who secured their first wins of the season in tight encounters.

MIDDLE TENNIS
Spectators on the NIHS hardcourt arena watched on as the Middle Tennis served up a comprehensive 7-3 victory against St Peter’s College. Roshan was a standout performer who impressively won both his singles and doubles matches without dropping a game (6-0,6-0).

GIRLS BASKETBALL
The strong form continued for the Middle Girls’ Basketball team who showcased their dominance with a convincing 34-12 win against Kildare. Congratulations to Meymey who played exceptionally well in her first match.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Senior
The Senior B1 girls were unable to overcome a tough test, going down to Our Lady Sacred Heart with a final score of 49-68. It was an all NIHS showdown in the C1 competition that saw the two Senior C1 teams face off in a battle of friendly fire. When all was said and done, it was the NIHS 2 team who stole the bragging rights, securing a 2-0 win against NIHS 3.

Middle
The Middle B1 staked their claims on a strong season, dismantling St Ignatius College 3-0 with Clair and Jenny stealing the thunder with standout form. A see-sawing affair swung the right way for the Middle C2 who pinched a 2-1 win against St Dominic’s Priory College, kickstarting their season in the right direction. Unfortunately, the Year 7 girls were unable to keep the trend, narrowly losing to Mercedes with a score of 1-2 despite the best efforts of Isabelle.

CRICKET
The Middle B1 boys won the toss and chose to bat against local rivals Rostrevor College at home Saturday. The boys batted on strongly to notch up a 100 run total after 20 overs that was ultimately out of reach for the visitors who fell short by 22 runs. Gurveer was phenomenal was the bat, slapping multiple boundaries on his way to 40+ runs.
