XP8 – Securing the Championship Advantage

Coming into Round 4, Team XP8 knew that a strong performance was essential to gain the championship edge over Pembroke’s Phoenix before the season finale at Murray Bridge. With only six riders available for the demanding 8-hour race, the team adopted a strategy of longer stints to minimise time lost in the pits.

The day began with a smart and composed opening ride from Digby (Year 12), who matched the rapid pace of Phoenix’s lead rider despite the lingering morning fog. Remy (Year 12) then unleashed a fast and aggressive stint, propelling XP8 into a two-lap lead. Consistent and controlled riding from the powerhouse trio – Nick (Year 12), Luca (Year 11), and Isaac (Year 11) – extended the margin to three laps as the race passed its critical halfway point.

Connor (Year 12) delivered a solid performance to hold the lead, although a late surge from Phoenix reduced the gap to a single lap. In the final hour, Remy returned to the trike under immense pressure but remained composed, fending off every challenge from Phoenix – even as their rider posted the fastest lap of the race.

XP8 crossed the line after completing 109 laps (372 km), with Remy setting the team’s fastest lap at 3:46.4 (an average speed of 54 kph). With not a scratch on the trike, this victory marked XP8’s second win of the season in the S3 category, strengthening their championship position heading into Murray Bridge.

Spurls – All-Female Team Claims Category Victory

Spurls

Round 4 saw Team Spurls welcome Annabel (Year 8) to the line-up, bringing fresh energy to the all-female squad. Grace K (Year 10) opened the race with a composed and confident ride through the dense morning fog, setting the tone with an early lead. Supported by strong and safe stints from Julissa (Year 11), Ava (Year 10), Willow (Year 10) and Serena (Year 10), the team maintained consistent pacing while avoiding major incidents on track.

Sofia (Year 12) delivered blistering speed, posting the team’s fastest lap at 4:29.7, while Grace S (Year 10) closed out the race with a series of quick and controlled laps, sealing victory in the All-Female sub-category. With clean riding, strategic teamwork, and unwavering determination, Spurls achieved an outstanding result in a highly competitive field.

Maximo led the charge with the team’s fastest lap at 4:42.2, while the group’s commitment to safe and efficient riding helped secure a 3rd place finish in the Middle School category. This strong result reinforces Protégé’s reputation as a rising force on the track.

Enigma – Building Experience with a Strong Finish

Enigma

Team Enigma took on the endurance challenge with a large group of enthusiastic riders: Anna, Allegra, Violet, Bailey, Keva, Vishwa, Aditya, Ethan, and Adam. The team rotated through stints effectively, supporting one another and keeping the trike upright and safe across the demanding 8-hour race.

Adam delivered the team’s fastest lap at 5:12.1, while the collective effort of all riders ensured a smooth race and a well-earned finish. With every round, Enigma continues to gain confidence, speed, and valuable racing experience.
