Norwood International High School is committed to providing students with opportunities to enrich their international and intercultural knowledge and perspectives. As part of this, we are excited to communicate with you the following travel opportunities for students in 2024.

Sister School Group Exchange

NIHS has sister school relationships in Japan, Italy, Germany, and Republic of China (Taiwan). Each year an exchange occurs between our sister schools and in 2024 we will undertake a reciprocal visit to Takahashi Senior High School in Japan and Wilhelm Dorpfeld Gymnasium in Germany. These trips will occur during the last week of Term 3 and the Term 3 school holidays, with approximate dates of 22 September to 10 October.

For Japan, there will be 6-7 days in Takahashi Senior High School with homestay families and approximately 6-7 days touring Japan. The group size will be limited to 18 students, accompanied by two staff members with an approximate cost of $4000 per student, which may be subject to change.

For Germany, there will be 7-8 days in Wilhelm Dorpfeld Gymnasium with homestay families and approximately 8-9 days touring Germany. The group size will be limited to 16 students, accompanied by two staff members with an approximate cost of $5000- $6000 per student, which may be subject to change.

Student selection for the Sister School Exchanges will be completed in 2024 and will prioritise students studying the language of the travelling country. However, students who are not studying the language of the travelling country are still welcome to apply.

Rits Super Global Forum

NIHS has a relationship with Ritsumeikan Junior and Senior High School, located in Kyoto Japan where we are fortunate enough to be invited to their Rits Super Global Forum. This exciting opportunity is attended by schools from around the world and allows participating students to build connections and collaborate with others to explore current global issues.

This trip includes the Rits Super Global Forum for 4 days with homestay families and approximately 6-7 days touring Japan. These trips will occur approximately on the dates 9 November to 20 November. The group size will be limited to 3 or 4 students, accompanied by two staff members with an approximate cost of $4000 per student which may be subject to change.

Student selection for the Rits Super Global Forum will be completed in 2024 and will not be dependent on students studying the language of the travelling country.

Sister School Individual Exchange

Through NIHS sister school relationships there are opportunities for individual students to engage in a short-term exchange for approximately 3 to 10 weeks with a sister school. The age of students and length of student exchange may be negotiated between the sister schools. On exchange, students will participate in the local school program.

Please do not hesitate to contact the school for more information.
