Year 8s learn about worldbuilding in their narratives from Author Ash Harrier.
Norwood International High School was delighted to welcome author Ash Harrier for a worldbuilding workshop with our Year 8 students.
Ash Harrier, known for crafting rich and imaginative fictional worlds, spent the session guiding students through the building blocks of great storytelling. From inventing settings and cultures to developing believable characters and conflict, students were challenged to think like authors and bring their own story ideas to life.
The workshop was met with enthusiasm across the cohort. Students worked collaboratively, shared ideas, and experimented with creative writing techniques in a fun and supportive environment.
Beyond the enjoyment on the day, experiences like this play an important role in building students’ confidence and skill as writers. Engaging directly with a published author helps students see the craft behind storytelling, strengthens their written literacy, and encourages a genuine love of writing that extends well beyond the classroom.
We thank Ash Harrier for sharing her time and expertise, and we look forward to seeing the creative worlds our Year 8 students continue to build.
