Year 7 STEM students take on the challenge, with a new opportunity for Years 7–9 in Term 4
Across Week 9 of Term 2 and Week 1 of Term 3, Year 7 STEM classes took part in the World Peace Game, a hands-on simulation where students become leaders of fictional nations and work together to navigate global crises.
The Game challenges students to negotiate, collaborate, think strategically and find creative solutions to interconnected problems. There is rarely one ‘right’ answer, and every decision can have consequences for someone else.
The response from our Year 7 students was overwhelmingly positive, with 100% saying they would recommend the experience to other students. In their reflections, students most commonly identified critical thinking, creative thinking, collaboration and negotiation as key skills they developed through the Game.
Following its success, the World Peace Game will continue as part of the Year 7 STEM program next year.
There will also be another opportunity this year. In Week 8 of Term 4, students from Years 7–9 will be invited to nominate to participate in a dedicated World Peace Game experience.
For students who enjoy a challenge, solving complex problems, negotiating with others and thinking outside the box, it might just be your chance to help save the world.
