Badminton Week 3

Term 1 – Week 3 Results

Week 3 signalled the start of school sports kicking off across both middle and senior years. 22 teams and over 150 players took their respective playing courts, fields and pitches, representing Norwood International High School in volleyball, cricket, tennis, badminton and basketball.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL
The Boys Volleyball teams had mixed results in their encounters. In the Senior A3 category, NIHS emerged victorious against Blackfriars Priory in a closely contested match, securing a 2-1 victory thanks to stellar performances from Evan and Eric. Unfortunately, the Senior B3 team were unable to overcome a tough challenge and succumbed to a 0-3 defeat against the same opposition. Meanwhile, the Middle B4 team dominated the court, securing a convincing 3-0 win against St. Ignatius College. Jack and Austin were standouts in the win.

BADMINTON
Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for the badminton teams this weekend as the Senior A1 and B1 teams faced formidable opponents in St. Peter’s College and St. Ignatius College, respectively, resulting in 1-8 and 1-11 defeats. The Senior A2 and B2 teams also fought hard but fell short, losing 2-7 and 2-10 to St. Ignatius College. The Middle teams were unable to overcome strong CBC and Glenunga outfits on Saturday and experienced heavy losses as a result.

MIDDLE TENNIS
The Middle C2 Tennis team faced a tough challenge down at Sacred Heart College, ending the match with a 3-9 defeat. Despite the loss, Pranav and Sandith can be proud of their efforts, winning their singles matches.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
A hot start saw the girls dominate the floor across all facets, accounting for St. Paul’s College with a resounding 25-4 victory thanks to a standout performance from Jaiden.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
NIHS hit the ground running across the middle and senior volleyball competitions. The Senior B1 team secured a hard-fought win against Marryatville High School with a score line of 71-62 thanks to strong performances by Evie and Adryanna. The Senior C1 teams spiked their way to victory, defeating both St. Ignatius College (75-44) and Mercedes (68-55). Erin and Mia were named as standout performers.
The Middle B1, B2, and C1 teams also tasted victory against St. Paul’s (forfeit), Marryatville (76-36), and Our Lady Sacred Heart (72-63) in their matchups with Miheala and Tahlia producing strong performances on the day. unfortunately, the Middle C2 team were unable to complete the NIHS sweep, falling short against Nazareth (65-75). The Year 7 C team won by forfeit against Unley.

CRICKET
In a thrilling cricket encounter, the Middle B1 North team emerged victorious against Christian Brothers’ College by 5 wickets. The boys needed every over to chase down CBC’s total (86), reaching the total with 3 balls to spare thanks to some superb batting late in the piece. Gurveer and Udhav must be recognised for their efforts in the guiding the team to victory.
