NIHS String Ensemble Celebrates a Bronze Medal ABODA Debut 🥉🎻

wordpress postJ7nrhN

Our young NIHS String Ensemble has made an impressive debut at ABODA, receiving a Bronze Medal in the Intermediate Strings section.

On Tuesday 11 August, the NIHS String Ensemble took to the stage at the ABODA Schools Music Festival for the very first time.

Having been playing together for just over a year, our young ensemble brought together musicians from across different year levels to perform three contrasting works: Wildfire by Kathryn Griesinger, Lullaby for Luca by Loreta Fin, and Stompin’ by Neridah Oostenbroek.

Adding to the challenge, the ensemble performed without a conductor. Students relied on one another through careful listening, breathing, eye contact and musical communication to stay together and shape their performance as an ensemble. Their efforts were recognised not only with a Bronze Medal, but also with compliments from students and staff from other schools about their ability to perform so confidently without a conductor.

Most importantly, our students embraced the experience, supported one another and represented NIHS with pride. For an ensemble still relatively early in its journey, their first appearance at ABODA was a wonderful milestone and a reflection of the commitment and enthusiasm they have brought to rehearsals and performances over the past year.

Congratulations to all of our String Ensemble musicians on a fantastic achievement and a memorable ABODA debut.

What a debut! 🥉🎻
