IBDP Summit

IBDP Summit 4

Recently the IB Diploma Programme invited Year 10 students to participate in the first IBDP Summit for 2026. Summits are opportunities for prospective Year 10 students to come and see what it the Diploma Program is, experience what it is like inside Diploma classrooms, and chat to current Diploma students and teachers about their experiences.

IBDP Summit 1

We had 19 Year 10 students attend the summit, hosted by IBDP Lead Teacher Kiara Bacon, and current Diploma student Chiara. These students participated in a Theory of Knowledge session run by ToK teacher Rebecca Cuskelly, stretching their skills in reasoning, logic, and critical thinking. Theory of Knowledge is a subject unique to the Diploma Programme, designed to support students to develop their analytical reasoning and creative problem solving. We then had a hotly contested round of GeoGuessr, where students had to ply their understanding of languages, geography, and world cultures to score points.

Finally, the session ended with a panel of IBDP year 12 students, answering questions submitted by the attendees. The questions ranged from how the Diploma is different to the SACE and what benefits are there for university entry pathways, to how to balance athletic and creative pursuits with the rigor of the program.

All in all, it was a very successful first summit, and we are excited to welcome our next cohort of Diploma students into the program.

If you, or your student, would like more information on attending future IBDP events, or more information about the program, please contact the IBDP Leader, Miah Nalpantidis.
