NIHS Year 9 Boys were crowned the Volleyball SA Division 2 Boys Gold Medallists over the weekend, beating Concordia College 2 – 1.

Year 9 Boys

The Year 9 Boys Volleyball team has been crowned SA Schools Volleyball Cup Gold Medallists after an incredible three-day tournament.

Playing nine matches across three days, the team battled through a highly competitive pool of six teams, finishing third in their group and earning a place in the semi-finals.

The semi-final provided an opportunity for redemption against Morialta, who had defeated NIHS only days earlier. In a tense contest, the boys held their nerve when it mattered most. A remarkable serving streak from Jesse helped swing the momentum in NIHS’s favour and steer the team into the Grand Final.

The final against Concordia was even more dramatic. Having also suffered defeat to Concordia just two days earlier, the boys knew they would need to produce their best volleyball to claim the title.

The match went down to the wire, with neither team willing to give an inch. With the championship on the line in a deciding third set, Youan produced a huge block at a crucial moment, helping seal an extraordinary 25–23 victory.

Congratulations to the entire team on an outstanding achievement! 🏆

Year 12 Boys

The Year 12 Boys also competed strongly throughout the tournament in Division 1, which featured 12 teams battling for the championship.

The competition was extremely even, with very little separating the teams throughout the tournament. NIHS fought hard across their matches and continued to compete with determination against some of the strongest school volleyball teams in the state.

The boys eventually finished 7th overall, with their final placing decided after an incredible draw in their sixth play-off match.

While they narrowly missed out on a higher finish, the Year 12 team can be extremely proud of their efforts and the way they competed throughout the tournament.

A huge congratulations to both players and coaches (James & Kieren ) for representing Norwood International High School with pride, determination and outstanding sportsmanship at the SA Schools Volleyball Cup.
