We are proud to share that on 26 February 2026, Norwood International High School proudly performed at the official opening of the 2026 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art: ‘Yield Strength’, presented by the Art Gallery of South Australia.
The Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art is Australia’s longest-running survey of contemporary Australian art and a major event on the national cultural calendar. To be invited to contribute to such a significant cultural occasion was an exceptional honour for our school.
The NIHS Drum Corps delivered a powerful live performance at the Biennial opening, representing our school with professionalism, discipline and pride.
Beyond the live event, we are especially proud to share that the Drum Corps’ playing and repertoire have been featured as part of the soundtrack for ‘Pocket Money’, a major video work by contemporary artist Emmaline Zanelli included in the exhibition.
This means our students’ musicianship is embedded within the Biennial itself. Their sound forms part of the artistic experience for visitors to the gallery, a significant achievement and an authentic example of creative industry collaboration at a professional level.
Students involved engaged directly with professional arts practice, contributing to a nationally recognised exhibition platform. This experience reflects the strength of our programs and the calibre of our students.
The exhibition runs until June, and we warmly encourage all to visit the Art Gallery of South Australia to experience ‘Pocket Money’ and the broader Biennial firsthand.
Seeing our students’ contribution presented within a major state gallery context is both inspiring and affirming. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their achievement and support their involvement in South Australia’s leading contemporary arts event.
