A roof-raising showcase of student talent
On May 26, NIHS experienced its own version of a music festival. This year we had so many bands we split over recess and lunch, with 5 student acts plus the staff band. Recess was all about pop with a AKASANI hit Bunny Girl, a dreamy rendition of Laufey and Bebadoobee’s Night to Remember, and finishing off with Shut Up and Dance With Me performed by the staff band. A vibe shift for lunch, with the Ace Tones ripping up Jimi Hendrix’s Voodoo Child, a Beabadoodee palate cleanser with Beaches by Chimera, and then the roof was blown off with Roots Bloody Roots, performed by Debt to the Crown.
Performing to a crowd of almost 500 students, the bands did an incredible job. Students from every year level, as well as many staff, came together to experience the concert (Mr Page revealed himself to be quite the metal-head!) and all were impressed by the talent and professionalism of the performers.
After the students cast their votes, it was Debt to the Crown that was crowned Battle of the Bands champions. Congratulations to all students involved, and big thanks to Ms Nicolle and the Arts team who made this event possible.
