Virtual Reality Lab Official Opening

DSC 0153

On Wednesday 3 July, Norwood International High School held the Official Opening of the ‘JVR Lab’. We welcomed special guests, the Honourable Vincent Tarzia, Member for Hartley, Jacqui van Ruiten, Director of Workforce Capability and previous NIHS Principal, Nicola Launder, Principal Consultant – Adelaide Prospect and Morialta Partnerships, and the Lumination Team, who have been with us on this journey.

This state-of-the-art immersive Virtual Reality Lab represents our school’s commitment to providing our students with access to the latest advancements in technology and education. Virtual Reality has the power to transport learners to new worlds and environments, allowing them to explore, experiment, and engage in their learning in ways that were unimaginable just a few years ago.

Students will have the opportunity to dive into immersive learning experiences across all Learning Areas and will be able to virtually step into the past, manipulate 3D models of molecules, and create digital masterpieces, all while developing critical 21st Century skills like problem-solving, creativity, and digital literacy.

We would like to acknowledge our former Principal, Jacqui van Ruiten, who was instrumental in championing this project and ensuring that Norwood International High School would be at the forefront of VR technology into our classrooms. Her vision and commitment to innovation have made this lab a reality. For this reason, we have named our new space the ‘JVR Lab’.
