Term 4 – Week 6 Results
With all our Senior Teams concluding their seasons last weekend, Week 6 signalled the final matches for all Middle Teams, officially bringing school sport to a close for 2024. On behalf of NIHS, I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation to all parents, coaches and players for their positive contributions to the successes of the program this year
Boys Volleyball
Middle C2 (0-3)
Hoping to end the season on a high, the boys travelled to St. Peter’s on Friday afternoon for their match up. The match was tough one for the boys, as they were unable to make a significant impact against a strong St Peters side. Despite some strong individual efforts, such as a strong serving display from Thomas, they struggled to find consistency and as result went down 0-3.
Mixed Badminton
Middle A2 Navy (No Game)
A scheduled BYE meant no match this weekend for the Middle A2 Navy team.
Middle B2 Navy (5-7)
In a closely contested match, the Middle B2 team fell to Unley High School with a score of 5-7 in total matches. Edric did his best to help get the team across the line with wins in both singles and doubles ties, however Unley proved to be too strong in the end.
Middle A2 Red (4-8)
The Middle Red team were looking for revenge St Ignatius College on Saturday morning on the back of a close defeat earlier this season. Unfortunately, they were unable to turn the tide and in in similar fashion as previously, were defeated 4-8. The players gave their all, led by Anson who was a standout player, offering a strong defensive presence throughout his matches.
Middle B2 Red (0-12)
A challenging morning saw the Middle B2 Red team suffer a heavy defeat at the hands of hosts, St Ignatius College (0-12). Despite their best efforts, including some eye-catching efforts from Thedini who showed impressive determination, the side struggled to match their opponents across the morning.
Year 7 (5-7)
Undefeated going into their final match against Marryatville High School, the impressive Year 7 team took to the court for one last time this year. Youan was excellent again, playing a pivotal role in keeping the team in contention, with his strong net play, however the team were unable to retain their undefeated status, going down 5-7 in a tight contest. We look forward to the Year 7’s integration into the Middle teams next year.
Middle Tennis
Middle C2 (No Game)
The tennis crew will be looking ahead to 2025 as their final game was cancelled.
Girls Basketball
Year 7 C2 (4-58)
In what has been a resilience testing season for the girls, they again fronted up and took the court for a final time. Regardless of results, which have been in the opposition’s favour each week, including this week against Loreto, the girls should be proud of their efforts and positive energy, epitomising the ‘Winning isn’t everything’ theme. Lillia has consistently emphasised this and was fittingly named as the best player on Saturday.
Girls Volleyball
Middle A (3-0)
The NIHS Middle A girls’ volleyball team put in another excellent performance, defeating Kildare College 3-0 to end the season undefeated. Gabrielle was instrumental in the win with her recent form acting as a reflection of both her and the team’s growth across multiple seasons. We look forward to the continuation of this for those whom are entering into the senior program next year.
Middle B2 (2-1)
Despite being reduced to only 4 available players, the B2 girls played out of their skins to claim a hard fought 2-1 victory against Kildare College. Amelia was exceptional, with precise passing and consistent attacking play as she played a key role in the team’s success. The girls worked together well and made the most of their opportunities, securing a well-earned win.
Middle C2 (0-3)
The Middle C girls didn’t get the result they were after to close out the year, defeated in straight sets by Marryatville High School. It was a tough loss for the team, as they struggled to find their rhythm against a well-organized Marryatville side. Zoe stood out with her defensive work and attempts to shift the momentum.
Year 7 C (1-2)
The Year 7 C girls were narrowly defeated by Nazareth Catholic College, with a final score of 1-2. It was a close and competitive match, and despite the loss, the team showed moments of strength. April was a standout player in a team that was below their usual best on the day.

The cricketers suffered a 3-wicket defeat at the hands of St John’s Grammar on a warm Saturday morning. The Boys batted first to post a score of 6/94 in their 20 overs thanks to a superb 42-run knock from Udhav.
