Badminton

Term 4 – Week 1 Results

School sport was back in action over the weekend as the Term 4 sport season got underway. This season, 19 sporting teams stand to represent NIHS across 5 different sports in what is shaping up to be an action-packed season.

Boys Volleyball

The boys volleyball opened the season on Friday afternoon with both senior and middle teams taking the court. Final results highlighted a mixed day for the boys as the Senior A2 squad faced a tough challenge against Gleeson College, ultimately falling in straight sets (0-3). However, the Senior B2 team showcased resilience, bouncing back to secure a hard-fought victory, winning 2-1. The highlight of the day came from the Middle C2 team, which dominated St. Peter’s Secondary College with a convincing 3-0 win.

Senior Badminton

The Senior A1 and B1 badminton teams had standout performances, with both teams delivering flawless victories over Immanuel College, winning 9-0 in both matches. Unfortunately, a strong St. Ignatius side were too good for the C team who suffered a heavy defeat despite their best efforts.

Middle Badminton

It was a challenging first week for the Middle A2 Navy and Red teams, who fought hard and despite multiple individual match wins against Adelaide High School and Unley High School in their respective matches were unable to overcome the opposition in overall matches. The Year 7 team hit the ground running as they triumphed over Glenunga International High School with a solid 9-3 win.

Middle Tennis

The Middle C2 tennis team faced a strong opponent in Sacred Heart College and despite encouraging performances were unable to secure a win, with the final results reading 0-9.

Girls Basketball

In girls’ basketball, the Year 7 team fronted a tough test in their first match of the season against Loreto College. The girls never gave up in a spirited performance however were unable to overcome Loreto going down 8-45.

Girls Volleyball

The Senior A team celebrated a clean sweep against Sacred Heart College (3-0), while the Middle A team also enjoyed success, edging out Sacred Heart College 2-1. The Senior B2 and Middle B2 teams, however, faced tough losses against Nazareth College and St Paul’s College, respectively. The Middle C2 team fought hard but ultimately lost a close match against Nazareth College (1-2), while the Year 7 team secured a strong victory, winning 2-0 against Nazareth College.

Cricket

Unfortunate Friday rain meant no cricket on Saturday due to a soaked pitch. The boys are now eager to kick things off next week at Unley High School.
