Term 3 – Week 4 Results

Senior Basketball

Open A3: NIHS def. by Gleeson College (32 – 68)

Open A3 were hoping to end their season with a win against Gleeson at home on the weekend when faced with a formidable Gleeson side. Seban did his best to keep his side in it with 11 points that including 3 made shots from the beyond the 3pt arc however it was not enough to subdue a rampant Gleeson offence.

Open B3: NIHS def. by Gleeson College (44 – 88)

The B boys were unable to gain the upper hand on a strong Gleeson outfit who controlled the match for the most part. Despite the loss, Ka Him (Marcus) offered up an exciting performance in making his way to the basket on a number of occasions in offense whilst providing consistent support on the defensive end.

Open C3: NIHS def. Gleeson College (46 – 45)

The Open C team kicked things off on Saturday with an absolute thriller that went down to the wire. As the final seconds expired, Muhammed ensured that the result went Norwood’s way, hitting the net with a long range 3 with only 5 seconds to spare to inch the team ahead as the final siren blew.

Middle Basketball

Middle A3: NIHS def. by St John’s Grammar (21 – 74)

The stage was set for the Middle A3 squad who had the privilege of playing in the competition decider on Saturday morning against St. John’s Grammar. Unfortunately, it was St. John’s Grammar’s day however, who flexed their muscles to extend an early lead to an insurmountable one as the game neared its end. Jacob and Sam battled hard throughout and were recognised as NIHS’ best on the day. Congratulations to the Middle A’s on a consistently strong season.

Middle B3: NIHS def. by St John’s Grammar (30 – 45)

The Middle B team demonstrated flashes of brilliance and quality in their encounter with St. John’s over the weekend highlighted by the efforts of Agamjot. Over the four quarters however, it was the hosts who controlled things to secure the victory.

Middle C3: NIHS def. by St John’s Grammar (21 – 23)

Lei and Tobey were out to prove a point in their final clash of the year. Both players led the way in the C team’s charge that ultimately fell agonisingly short in a thrilling final few moments of the match. The boys were unable to claw their way over the line in the dying seconds as the final siren rang out to declare St. John’s 2-point winners.

Year 7: NIHS def. GIHS Black (63 – 29)

The Year 7 team ended their season in style, replicating their strong form across the season to account for Glenunga Int. High School (Black). Will and Sebastian were influential in the teams’ success, consistently beating their opponents to help secure the win. Congratulations must go to the entire team, coached by Andre Colotti-Perez (’21) who ended the season with 9 wins and 1 loss to claim top spot overall.

Middle Soccer

Middle A3: NIHS def. by St John’s Grammar (4 – 2)

NIHS played home to a highly anticipated fixture with St. John’s who had proved themselves to be one of the competition’s top teams. The match lived up to expectations with both teams taking turns in claiming momentum and trading blows at various stages. Despite a late NIHS surge that closed the gap 3-2 thanks to a Kalvin strike with a short amount of time remaining, St. John’s were able to hold their nerve to claim the win, adding a late goal to seal it.

Middle B3: NIHS def. St John’s Grammar (6 – 0)

The Middle B3 soccer team had a commanding performance, securing a decisive victory over St John’s. The team was rock solid in defence whilst creating a plethora of attacking forays that led to goals. Archie was a standout performer, finding the back of the net whilst driving the team forward consistently.

 

Girls Soccer

Middle A/B: NIHS def. Sacred Heart College (4 – 3)

The Middle Girls rallied together for their 3rd place playoff match against Sacred Heart on a wet and windy Saturday morning. The match was a joy to watch for spectators who witnessed an action packed 4-3 goal fest. Alyssa C and Alyssia R starred for the team, both scoring twice to heavily contribute to the hard-fought win.

Senior C: NIHS def. Woodcroft College (17 – 3)

The Senior team delivered a dominant performance against Woodcroft, winning decisively 17-3 overall against a team lacking numbers. Isaac made no mistake with his performance, claiming a strong in his singles tie.

Middle B: NIHS def. St. Peter’s College (14 – 3)

The Middle team closed out their season with a stellar victory over St. Peter’s on Friday evening. The boys claimed 14 out of a possible 17 ties, headlined by Heath, who was one of many who won both his doubles and singles matches.

Girls Netball

Year 9 B2: NIHS def. by Unley High School (14 – 17)

With the Year 7 and 8 teams seeing the final match of the season out due to a scheduled BYE, the Year 9 took centre court in a winnable match against Unley High School. The girls, led by Clair and Alyssa H burst out the blocks to put 9 goals on the board in the first quarter but were pegged back after the break to set up a tense finish. Unfortunately, it was Unley who came away with the chocolates in a 14-17 nail biter.

Girls Badminton

Middle A/B: NIHS def. St Dominic’s Priory College (6 – 0)

The Middle A/B lined up in their 3rd place playoff match against St. Dominic’s on Saturday. The girls were awesome from start to finish, highlighted by dominant displays by Xantheh &and Senuthi to win 6-0 in what was a top performance.

Middle B2: NIHS def. Loreto College (3 – 3, won 114-112 on total points)

It was ever so close in the Middle B match with matches tied at 3-3 the result came down to a total points countback where the girls had managed to edge over the line by 2 points, a remarkable result. Well done to Alia who was superb in her singles win that aided the team’s overall success.

Senior A/B: NIHS def. by St Ignatius College (1 – 5)

The Senior girls were set out to claim the Senior B title against St. Ignatius in their much-anticipated clash. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for the girls who were unable to match the St. Iggies pressure. Sze Yu was praised for efforts on the day, emphasising her improved development across the season.

 

With the Winter Season officially complete, the school would like to offer its appreciation to all families, coaches, officials who contributed to the program allowing it to be a prospering success for our students.
