Term 2 – Week 7 Results
Senior Boys Basketball

A challenging week for the Open Boys Basketball teams saw them suffer defeat at the hands of travellers, Gleeson College. The A team struggled to find their rhythm in a 38-point loss despite the best efforts of Dean (12 points) whilst the B side started well and looked well and truly in the game before fading late to go down by 22. Similarly, the C brigade was outclassed by a stronger outfit with the scoreboard reflecting this (28 – 79).

Middle Boys Basketball

There was more success over at Gleeson for the middle teams however, highlighted by strong wins from the B and C teams. The C team surged to a 9-point win, with best player honours going to Hamish, whilst the B’s secured a comfortable 16-point win thanks to a strong showing from Caesar.

The A team forced spectators up onto the edge of their seats in a see-sawing affair that culminated in a last-ditch buzzer beating 3-pointer from Gleeson to level the scoreboard with only seconds to spare (44-44). Sam & Luca were recognised for their strong performances.

Saturday’s top of the table matchup with Glenunga saw the undefeated Year 7 team face their biggest test of the season. Unfortunately, despite a strong showing from Jack the boys were unable to withstand the strength of the opposition, going down by 10 points. The team will focus their attention to training this week as they look to bounce back to winning ways.

Middle Boys Soccer

Another resounding performance from the Middle A and B teams saw them easily dismantle St. Paul’s at home. Henry dominated in the B’s to help guide them to a 9-0 whilst Sean showed his class by scoring a phenomenal bicycle kick in what was a huge 14-2 win by the A team win. The squad will now wait on a potential shift up in division to help find more suitable opposition.

Table Tennis

A mixed bag of results saw the Middle B team put forward a strong performance to defeat Prince Alfred College with a score of 13 – 5. Rohan was excellent on the day, winning both his singles and doubles ties.

Not even the best efforts of Kenneth could help steer the Senior B team to victory as they fell short of Glenunga by 6 matches in their Friday evening clash. The boys will look forward to a final clash with Pembroke next weekend before the season breaks for school holidays.

Middle Girls Soccer

The Middle A/B girls were out looking for revenge against a Sacred Heart side who had beaten them earlier in the season. Unfortunately, the girls were unable to reverse the roles however as SHC proved a team too strong to overcome with an understrength team despite a strong performance from captain, Alyssa (1-5).

Girls Netball

A challenging season continued for the Girls netball teams over the weekend with all teams unable to overcome strong opposition on Saturday morning. Despite the losses, the girls are continuing to improve and develop which was demonstrated in areas. Sally was a standout performer in the Year 9 B1 team, whilst Mia was recognised for her efforts in the 7/8 C1 team.

Girls Badminton

A close encounter for the A/B team over the weekend as they tied on total matches with opponents, Mary MacKillop. Unfortunately, the girls lost on a count back of total points recorded across all ties.

The Middle A/B played well across the board but narrowly lost to Nazareth 2-4 as Ami showcased her talent to receive best player of the day honours. The Middle B2 team also played extremely well both individually and as a team to secure a victory over Loreto with a final score of 6-0. Zi was awesome on Saturday, winning both her singles and doubles matches comfortably.
