Senior Basketball

A tough weekend for the Open teams witnessed Pedare College travel down to the NIHS arena to display their prowess across all three grades. Both the A and C teams suffered heavy defeats despite strong showings from Riley (Open C) and John (Open A). Heartbreak ensued for the Open B boys who went down to the buzzer beating 3-pointer that turned a 2-point deficit into a 1-point win at the death for the visitors. Burhan continued his strong form in the loss, scoring 15 points along with multiple assists.

Middle Basketball

A mixed bag of results in the middle years saw both the Middle A and B teams claim comprehensive wins, whilst the C team fell a mere 1 point short. Sam starred for the Middle A’s who cruised past Pedare by a whopping 69 points, whilst Agamjot was recognised for his performance in the 62-17 win for the B team. Similarly, to the Open C boys, the Middle C team fell agonisingly short despite beginning the match with only 4 on the court. Tobey was excellent on his way to a 14-point game. Business as usual for the Year 7 team who have cemented themselves as a competition powerhouse. The boys notched up an impressive 54-point win over travelling team Cardijn with William knocking down multiple 3’s on the day.

Basketball Mid Game

Middle Soccer (Boys)

The middle soccer boys continued their march, accounting for Westminster College with ease in both A and B grades. The A boys, led by superstar Josh recorded a 7-3 win whilst the B boys, aided by the class of Ryan ended as 9-4 winners.

Middle Soccer (Girls)

The Middle girls are beginning to find their rhythm this season, bouncing back from defeat in the opening 2 rounds, they have now claimed comprehensive wins in their last fixtures. Most recently, a 6-0 win against St. Ignatius in what was an effective whole team effort.

Table Tennis

Another tough test saw the Senior B team make the journey to St. Michael’s on Friday afternoon. The match ebbed and flowed as each tie concluded, however it was St. Michael’s who edged the result 11-9 by total matches. Mattia was recognised for his effort and performance in the loss.

CBC proved no test for the Middle B however as they demonstrated their dominance with a resounding 12-1 win. Well done to Dante whose performance caught the eye of coaches in aiding the team’s successes.

Netball

Another tough week for the netballers who all fell short to stronger opponents on Saturday. The Year 9 B1 team, supported by the quality of Emma went down by 12 to Mercedes 20-8. Similarly, the Year 7 B1 team encountered a formidable opponent in Nazareth, ultimately succumbing to a heavy 50+ point defeat. Unfortunately, things didn’t let up in the Year 8 fixture who also suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of St. Aloysius. The upcoming long weekend brings about the re-grading of our teams which will be welcomed by all. The girls have shown a tremendous amount of courage and resilient over the first month of play.

Badminton (Girls)

The badminton girls had their sights set on a win before the competition pause for the upcoming long weekend with all teams facing off against St. Ignatius. The Senior A/B girls started on the front foot, securing a 4-2 win with the help of Aleena. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for the Middle B2 team however with the girls going down 1-2 in a tense, tight affair. A special mention must go to Angela who battled it out for a tie in what was a marathon match. Tough luck for the Middle A/B team too who suffered a 6-9 defeat despite a strong effort across the board.

With the King’s Birthday long weekend looming, all teams will enjoy a well-deserved rest across next weekend before returning to play in Week 7.
