ABODA 2024

ABODA 3

We would like to share the tremendous success this year with our NIHS Drum Corps.
On Tuesday 13 August, the Norwood International High School Drum Corp competed at the prestigious “Australian Band and Orchestra Directors’ Association Music Festival” (ABODA).

This was our 7th year entering in to ABODA and for the second time, we received the GOLD AWARD! Additionally, for the first time, we were awarded “Overall Winner” tied with Pulteney Grammar High School. This achievement is especially noteworthy as we were up against six other drumlines, all from private schools across Adelaide.
This year was particularly challenging as our ABODA entry was confirmed just 2 weeks prior to the event. Despite the short notice, students were very determined to compete, dedicating extra rehearsal time and effort to prepare for the competition. The consistency and hardworking nature of the students truly paid off.

We would like to highlight that this year’s adjudicators for open percussion were Jim Baily and Amanda Grigg, former head of percussion and current head of brass and percussion at Adelaide University. We have received fantastic feedback for the performance and chosen to be the Section Winner. This is a fantastic achievement especially considering the calibre of the adjudicators.

Congratulations to all students involved.
