Winter Sport Results – Term 2 Week 3

Basketball

School basketball hit the brakes over the weekend, pausing for the Club State Championships. As a result, all scheduled basketball matches across both Senior and Middle divisions were postponed.

Soccer

It was a dominant weekend in the soccer space with convincing wins across both senior and middle school levels.

The First XI scored their second win of the season as they delivered a commanding performance, defeating Pembroke School 6–1. Archie stole the show with a hat trick of goals, taking his season tally to 4, whilst Milan was recognised by officials for his strong performance.

The Senior D1 team continued the trend, overwhelming Christian Brother’s College 7–2 on Saturday morning. Sean led the way for the undefeated team with his flair and creativity playing as an attacking winger.

The Middle A landed an emphatic 10–0 victory over Christian Brother’s College with Archie and Ollie firing on all cylinders.

Heavy rain couldn’t hinder the Year 7A boys who secured a hard fought, first win of the season, defeating Gleeson College 3-1 at home. Aldo and Adrian led the way as the team rebounded from a 0-1 half time deficit to claim the win.

Table Tennis

A tough road trip saw the Middle C teams face testing opposition from Cabra College on Friday evening. The Middle C1 proved to be no match for Cabra as they suffered a heavy defeat.

An action-packed fixture saw the Middle C2 team put up a strong showing that ebbed and flowed with many individual wins going both ways before the fixture was ultimately decided the way of Cabra. Brother combination, Oscar and Jack performed well despite the loss.

Girls Badminton

A tightly contested round of badminton saw some thrilling encounters play out on Saturday morning. The Middle A girls narrowly edged past St Michael’s College in a match that ended with a 3–3 draw after 6 played matches. As a result, the winner (NIHS) was decided on total points (134–131). Harshita was named as the team’s most valuable contributor on the day.

In an all-NIHS showdown, Middle C1 defeated Middle C2 with this match also ending in a 3–3 draw and the winners securing victory on points 130–109. Emily and Isobel were the standout performers in the one, showing their improved development across the season so far.

The Senior A/B side, despite the best efforts of Baoxuan were no match for the strength of St Ignatius College in their matchup, going down in straight sets to an experience opposition outfit.

Girls Netball

The Year 8/9 C1 team continued their strong run of form, edging out Marryatville High School in a tense 19–17 win in wet conditions. Erica and Lila were recognised for their efforts, receiving best player honours as a result.

Year 7 B1 and C1 teams both fell to defeat against their opponents on the weekend, losing 5–29 to Nazareth College and 4–27 to St Ignatius College respectively. The girls look forward to another week at training with the aim to improve of their season next weekend.
