Collaborative Sciences Project

CSP 4

The Year 11 IBDP students took part in their Collaborative Sciences Project in their Week 8 Ready Program. The theme – Myth Busters! Ever wondered which type of string makes the best telephone cup? How to freeze ice cream in a bag? Or what’s actually happening behind the dramatic elephant’s toothpaste reaction?

Our students have taken these classic Science Practicals, plus a few scientific myths and pushed them to the next level. Using real experimental design and deep scientific thinking, they’ve investigated the “why” behind the results and uncovered the science that makes these experiments work.

Students were grouped to have Chemistry, Biology and Physics lens applied to tackle each “myth” and through this collaborative problem solving, our IBDP students have walked away with new knowledge from new Science areas.

They presented to the Middle School students who saw their experiments in action and learnt the real science behind some of their favourite STEM moments.

The IBDP encourages curious questions and discovering the science behind the everyday. It is a great senior program for any student interested in this style of learning.
